Read the responsibilities and the band, never the title.

New York carries the largest share of JPMorgan's PM roles, but a meaningful portion sits elsewhere: Jersey City directly across the river, plus Columbus in Ohio, Plano in Texas and Tampa in Florida — locations with dramatically lower costs of living than Manhattan for broadly comparable work. India hiring runs through Bengaluru and Mumbai. If New York economics do not work for you, the secondary US sites are a genuine option that most candidates overlook entirely.

The firm has moved decisively away from hybrid and remote arrangements for these roles, and that shows clearly in the data rather than just in policy statements. Treat location as a hard requirement when applying, and factor a full commute into any offer comparison — particularly for New York and Jersey City roles, where housing costs and travel time both bite.

Expect a structured, multi-round process weighted toward stakeholder management, regulatory awareness and risk thinking rather than consumer product sense. Interviewers want evidence that you can ship inside constraints — legal, compliance, security — and align many teams across a very large organisation. Concrete examples of navigating approvals and competing priorities land better here than a story about rapid iteration, which can read as naive about the environment.

JPMorgan fits PMs who want scale and stability, are interested in payments or financial infrastructure, and are comfortable working within regulatory constraint as a normal condition rather than an obstacle. It fits less well if you want rapid release cycles and high autonomy. Prior financial services experience helps considerably, but the firm also hires from technology backgrounds into its digital and AI product teams, which are the most accessible entry points for outsiders.
