About the role
The Role
Stiltz Homelifts is hiring a Product Manager, Americas (Technical Services), based in Bethlehem, PA. You’ll own what Stiltz sells across the US and Canada — which products, in which configurations, and approved in which jurisdictions. You’ll also lead our Technical Services team of six, who train our dealer network and support it in the field.
You’ll build and hold the single source of truth for Stiltz product in the Americas: one place where what is approved is recorded and kept current, so that what is sold, documented, configured and installed matches it, and dealers and colleagues can find the answer for themselves. You’ll also represent this market in group product development, so what customers here need reaches our engineering team in the UK.
What You’ll Do
Define what we sell here. You’ll keep the product and jurisdiction matrices for the US and Canada: which options work together, which configurations are approved, and where. When someone asks whether we can sell a particular lift in a particular state, you’ll make sure the answer is already documented.
Lead the Technical Services team. Six people, two jobs: training our dealer network and supporting it. You’ll maintain the high service levels the team already delivers, and grow what it is capable of. Training is where you’ll get the most leverage. Our lifts are reliable, and a well-trained installer is what makes sure the customer gets that from day one.
Train and certify the network. Your team delivers training against approved content and holds auditable records of who has been assessed and authorized by name. You’ll own the standard that training is held to, and the certification and renewal cycle behind it.
Make the systems tell the truth. You’ll specify Configurator content and rules, brief the technical documentation that gets published, and own NetSuite item data for everything sold in the Americas. You’ll also move permit preparation off manual production and into the Configurator, with code interpretation validated by our Codes & Standards Advisor and a controlled route for any change that affects permit content.
Tell people what they need to know. Safety notices, technical bulletins and product updates go out through one channel of record. You’ll determine who in the Americas needs to receive each one, and make sure it lands, acknowledged by named individual, and understood rather than just received where the content is safety related.
Be this market’s voice in product development. What dealers, sales, the direct channel and the field are telling us reaches you through your team. You’ll judge what matters most and put it to engineering through the ECR process, in a form they can act on.
Your team’s focus is the dealer network, but nobody gets turned away. Requests from the direct channel are prioritized alongside dealer commitments on customer impact, not on which channel they came from.
The Strengths We’re Recruiting For
These are the things we can’t teach you. Tell us where you have done them.
• You are comfortable being the authority on what is approved, including when the answer is no, and the person asking would rather it was yes.
• You are credible with installers on a job site and with senior stakeholders in a boardroom, in the same week.
• You are drawn to detail and precision. Compatibility rules, variants and approvals are the kind of thing you enjoy getting exactly right.
• You bring order to things that are undocumented, and you can hold a standard once you have set it.
• You help colleagues when the quickest route to an answer runs through you, while staying clear about who owns the work, so that helping does not quietly become owning.
• You get genuine satisfaction from other people getting better at their jobs.
The Experience That Helps
We are more interested in what you have demonstrated than in a checklist. Strength in several of these will serve you well; we will help you build the rest.
• Enough electrical and mechanical grounding to hold a technical conversation with engineering on its own terms, and some exposure to how products get developed.
• Product management or technical product ownership of a manufactured product where safety and compliance matter.
• Leading a technical team and developing what it can do.
• Defining product configuration rules, variants and option compatibility, and specifying what configuration and ERP systems need to do.
• Writing and controlling technical documentation in a regulated environment.
• Knowledge of the elevator and platform lift codes applying in the US and Canada, how adoption varies between states and provinces, and working with authorities having jurisdiction.
• A degree, or equivalent demonstrable experience, in an engineering or technical discipline.
