JOBÂ SUMMARY
Marriott is seeking an experienced FLEX Senior Product Manager, Corporate
Systems Procurement to own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of indirect tax
integrations across our procurement platforms. This role will drive the
integration of Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Source-to-Contract (S2C) solutions with
the Vertex tax engine, enabling automated, accurate, and compliant tax
determination throughout the procurement lifecycle. Partnering closely with
Engineering, Architecture, Tax, Procurement, Finance, and Accounts Payable
teams, this role will define integration strategies, data models, and scalable
solutions that deliver business value while meeting regulatory requirements.
Â
CANDIDATEÂ PROFILEÂ
Education and Experience
Required
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS),
Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or equivalent practical
experience.
* 7+ years of product management experience in enterprise technology, with at
least 3 years leading ERP, procurement, or finance system integrations
including:Â
* Demonstrated hands-on product management experience involving Vertex O
Series indirect tax engine implementations (sales/use tax, VAT/GST
determination, and tax content updates).Â
* Proven experience managing integration deliverables between procurement
platforms (Coupa, Birchstreet) and tax engine.Â
* Integration Lifecycle Governance: Knowledge of integration concepts (e.g.,
REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, SFTP batch processing), data mapping and
error-handling workflows.Â
* Quality Assurance & Cutover: Extensive experience in managing Integrated
System Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), end-to-end
reconciliation, cutover runbooks, and hypercare support models.Â
* Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination: Strong track record holding third-party
system integrators (SIs), software vendors (Coupa, Birchstreet), and
cross-functional technical teams accountable to strict delivery milestones
and SLAs.
* Proven record delivering complex, cross-functional integration programs from
requirements through go-live in an agile environment (Jira, Azure DevOps, or
similar).Â
Â
Preferred
* PMP, SAFe, Agile and ITIL v4 Certifications
* Direct experience implementing Vertex O Series or Vertex Cloud with Coupa
* Experience with global tax requirements, including VAT, GST, and withholding
tax
* Background in process optimization, lean operations and procurement
transformations.
  CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Â
Product Strategy and Roadmap
* Own the vision and multi-release roadmap for tax integration across Coupa
P2P, Coupa S2C, and Birchstreet.
* Prioritize the backlog against compliance requirements, technical
dependencies, financial impact, and platform constraints.
Â
Technical Solution and Integration Design
* Define integration architecture and data flows between Coupa, Birchstreet,
Vertex (O Series or Vertex Cloud), middleware, and the ERP.
* Specify API requirements, field mappings, authentication, error handling,
retry logic, and idempotency for real-time and batch tax calls.
* Own technical requirements for master data: ship-to/ship-from, product and
commodity tax codes, supplier tax attributes, exemption certificates, and
chart of accounts mappings.
* Define tax calculation behavior at each stage (requisition, PO, receipt,
invoice, credit memo, expense), including PO-to-invoice tax variances,
tolerance handling, and supplier-charged vs. self-assessed use tax.
* Define non-functional requirements: performance, scalability, availability,
latency, monitoring, and disaster recovery.
* Partner with architects on security, data privacy, and environment strategy
(sandbox, UAT, production).
Â
Delivery and Execution
* Write clear epics, user stories, technical specifications, and acceptance
criteria. Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release readiness.
* Collaborate daily with developers, QA, DevOps, Coupa and Birchstreet
administrators, Vertex consultants, and implementation partners.
* Drive test strategy, including integration, regression, performance, and
end-to-end testing of tax scenarios across jurisdictions, with automation
where possible.
* Lead UAT with Tax, AP, and Procurement; manage cutover, data migration, and
hypercare for go-lives across entities and countries.
* Troubleshoot integration defects and production incidents, performing
root-cause analysis with logs, payloads, and tax determination results.
Â
Governance, Compliance, and Operations
* Ensure traceability of tax determinations, overrides, and audit logs to
support SOX, internal audit, and tax audit requirements.
* Define observability and KPIs: tax calculation accuracy, API success rates,
exception volumes, override rates, and processing latency.
* Track Vertex releases, Coupa and Birchstreet release cycles, and regulatory
changes (e-invoicing mandates, new jurisdictional rules), and plan upgrades
and regression impacts.
Â
Stakeholder Leadership
* Translate between technical and non-technical audiences, including Tax,
Procurement, AP, Finance, and executive sponsors.
* Communicate status, risks, and decisions to operating committees.
Â
Change Management & Communication
* Develop stakeholder engagement, communication, and training plans
* Partner with change management teams to drive user adoption across global
business units
* Communicate program progress, risks, and decisions to senior leadership
Â
Core Competencies
* Strong ownership and accountability in ambiguous, multi-stakeholder
environments
* Ability to translate between business and technical audiences
* Structured problem solving and sound risk judgment
* Clear, concise written and verbal communication
* Influence without direct authority
