About the role
Overview
Every advertiser asks two questions: how much should I bid, and how much should I spend? Automated bidding answers them millions of times a day — setting bids against each advertiser's cost, value, and return goals, and pacing budgets so spend lands where it earns the most.
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to own a core area of automated bidding and budgets. You will decide what our bid strategies optimize for, how predictably they deliver, and what advertisers see when they don't.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
Own the strategy and roadmap for a core area of automated bidding or budgets, end to end.
Define how advertiser goals — conversion volume, conversion value, target CPA, target ROAS, clicks — translate into system behavior.
Partner with applied science on the models behind bidding, shaping objectives and evaluation criteria.
Improve how budgets pace and allocate, so delivery is predictable across the day, campaign, and season.
Make bidding legible to advertisers: goal setting, target attainment, diagnostics, and controls.
Prove impact through online experimentation on noisy, delayed outcomes.
Balance advertiser return, spend growth, and marketplace efficiency, and make the trade-offs explicit.
Mentor other product managers and raise the bar for product thinking on the team.
Embody our Culture and Values.

Solid analytical skills, including comfort working directly with large datasets.
Experience designing and interpreting online controlled experiments.
Familiarity with advertiser performance concepts such as CPA, ROAS, incrementality, attribution, and conversion delay.
